About Us
The Johnny Mello Show is a fast paced 50s & 60s
style show now featuring six to 10 local performers, many of which
are recording artists. The actual number of participants is
determined by the nature of the event and time requirements.
You’ll enjoy the vocal talents of Johnny
Mello, Sultry Lady, Eulakay Green, T-Man, Uncle Pepe, Charlie “Duke”
Messenger, Ally Baker, David Max Baldwin and an occasional special
guest singer in a round robin performance style show and dance.
You’ll hear the most popular songs from bygone
eras…. such hits as “Roses Are Red”, “Still”, “Smooth”, “Beer For My
Horses”, “Sherry”, ”Satisfaction”, “Blue Moon”, “Momma Said”, ”Till
Then”, “Unchained Melody”, “Rhythm of the Rain”, “Blueberry Hill”,
“Take Good Care of My Baby” “Chains”, “You Belong to Me”, “Stray
Cat” “Come Go With Me” and lots more. It’s a fun-filled experience
for all who attend.
We’ll take you back and forth through the “ Oldies
But Goodies” until you
are saturated with fond memories and blessed by the vocal talents of
great local artists.
A Bit of History
Have A
Heart’s musical fundraising originally started with just a few
singers performing as “Howling for the Hounds”. They performed in
Palm Cay Retirement Community, for the Shriner’s Club 2009 summer
picnic, On Top of The World Communities, Cherrywood Gated Community
Ladies Luncheon & for the Have A Heart Annual Dinner Dance and were
honored by the US Congress with a certificate of recognition for
their community spirit and volunteerism. Under the “Johnny Mello
Show” name, they have performed at the Silver Springs Shores
Community Center, at the Paddock Mall, at the Ocala Elks Lodge, at
the Countryside Presbyterian Church, The American Legion Hall in
Lady Lake, The La Hacienda Recreation Center in The Villages and at
the Spruce Creek South Community Center. They now have a pool of
talent that makes the Johnny Mello Show even better than when they
first began. However, they still “Howl for the Hounds.”
What Makes Us Different?
The Johnny Mello
Show is different than other shows or
forms of entertainment… in that it offers:
1.
True
Flexibility… We design
our shows for 90 minutes, 120 minutes or as much as 180 minutes,
depending on your entertainment needs.
2.
Musical
Variety… We format our
shows with a unique blend of Doo Wop, Rock N Roll and Country Music.
They dance together in a mix of 50s, 60s and other bygone era
favorites.
3.
Multiple
Performers… We showcase
the singing talents of seven or eight local recording artists in a
round robin sing-off that keep the crowd dancing and sometimes even
cheering as they listen to each style and unique presentation.
4.
Zero Dead Time…
Our show does not stop. It runs from start to finish with no breaks.
Paid ticket holders get the full benefit of our high-energy show.
5.
Memory Lane…
Our Show takes you back through “Memory Lane” where you can dance
the night away to some of your favorite oldies or just sit back and
enjoy the ride. Yes, it’s a show but it’s also a dance.
6.
Line Dancing…
Line dancing is a big thing at the Johnny Mello Show. All ages
participate in old favorites like the Cupid Shuffle and some new
ones like the Wobble.
7.
Fun With A Purpose…
Our show exists for one sole purpose…to raise needed funds for Have
A Heart For Companion Animals, Inc. (A 501 c-3 not for profit animal
rescue organization). We offer door prizes, hold a 50/50 cash
drawing, sell personalized CDs and conduct other fundraising at
every show. All singers and show workers are volunteers.
